1200 years ago Arulmigu Periyasamy Ayyanar Temple was built by One of the Pandiya's King Sri Vallabha King under the direct supervision of chokkampatti Jamin.
After the British rule,the temple administration was transfer from Jamin to British Goverment.
Currently , This temple administration is controlled by Tamilnadu Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments(HRNC) Executive Officer.
Present Kadayanallur was known as Arjunapuri in that period .The Atthadi Karupasamy river is called Shri valpan canal .
This Temple was constructed kadayanallur first ,after that only kadaikaal Eswaran Temple was built. Pooja was done by 21 Bandhi 64 Senai(Warriyars).
